N. Riethof - Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals ABSTRACT Burnout syndrome is a state of total exhaustion related to work condi- tions and prolonged stress. While initial phases of burnout resemble stress symptoms, final phases of burnout are characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning and desperation that have similar qual- ities as depression as well as existential vacuum described by Frankl in his logotherapy. In addition, the burnout syndrome involves stages in which people detach from their emotions and feelings as a defense mechanism against stress and have decreased ability to experience their own feelings and emotional states. Burnout usually begins with feelings of enthusiasm and idealized visualizations and it is in contrast with sub- sequent disillusionment, disappointment experienced later. After decades of burnout research, there is still a need for better def- inition of this condition including more precise diagnostic criteria and internationally recognized measurement tools, especially within health care system where the risks of unrecognized and untreated burnout are high. Logotherapy as a Path to Solving the Existential Problems

(in English) This thesis is an attempt to outline the key principles of logotherapy as a way to resolve emotional states of emptiness or lack of life's meaning. It familiarizes the reader with elementary terminology such as existential vacuum or existential neuroses, with the methodology, and last but not least, with the creator of this psycho-therapeutical movement as well as with his successors. This work emphasizes the principal tenets of logotherapy based on the book called "A Přesto Říci Životu Ano". The reader is elaborately introduced to the techniques of logotherapy and discovers the crucial attributes of working with clients. The text also potentially aspires to being a guideline for seeking the meaning in one's life.
Preparation of University Graduates for Helping Professions and Gaining Sense of Their Lives

A bachelor work is focused on a question of the sense of the live and the contingency of existencial frustration in the group of the university graduates helping and unhelping professions. The theoretical part describes the sense of the live problems, logotherapy as a practise dealing with this phenomenon and it defines the basic terms of this problem. The practise part contains research. There are compared the two groups of the university graduates through the standardized test named {\clqq}Logo-test``. The one group is created of the helping professions university graduates and the other group is created of the unhelping professions students.
